Hemiaster parastatus

Sea Urchin
Hemiaster parastatus
Monmouth County, NJ

Our local streams produce an abundance of shark teeth and other Cretaceous material, what our area is not known for are fossilized sea urchins. What makes this unusual find by Robert Badger even sweeter, is that the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton did not have a specimen of  H. parastatus among their collection. Bob was gracious enough to donate his prize to our local state museum.

Bob donated this specimen to the NJSM.

Kudos to Bob and the countless others who have donated to the various
universities and museums around the world.
